Service Families

Being part of a service family brings its own opportunities and challenges. Through whole school events, such as Month of the Military Child, fundraising for Military Charities and Remembrance Day, we value the contributions of the military and give service children the opportunity to share their own experiences of being part of a service family.

Miss Brock is our Service Children's Champion. Please contact her if your family is about to experience a deployment or house move. Her email is cbrock@curridge.w-berks.sch.uk

Remembrance Day 2023

Children across the school made clay poppies and many other pieces of art were created to celebrate Remembrance Day. The Year 6 children hosted a fantastic Remembrance Assembly and walked to the Tommy in the village to lay a wreath of poppies. We also sent home packets of Field Poppy seeds for the children to plant; a donation to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, was made with each packet purchased.

Month of the Military Child 2021

April is the month of the Military Child! We celebrated by inviting children from service families to bring in items or photos about being a military child. The children really engaged with the day and it was fantastic to see so many different items, uniforms and even information PowerPoints! Children were also invited to bring in dandelions to create our very own Dandelion Garden for our Military Children. Did you know that the dandelion is the flower of the military child?
